Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians, including families, communities, and workplaces within South Eastern NSW. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

In South Eastern NSW, 4.2% of the population identify as Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander. All of us here in South Eastern NSW live and work on Aboriginal land that was never ceded, across four Nations: Dharawal, Yuin, Ngunnawal / Ngambri, and Ngarigo.

Below is a list of some National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week events in the region. We encourage everyone to get involved in local activities, listen to Aboriginal voices, and join in on reconciliation and truth-tellling.

Wollongong (Dharawal Nation)
Nowra and Batemans Bay (Yuin Nation)
  • Wednesday 26 May: Sorry Day Walk in Bomaderry (near Nowra) led by South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation
  • Friday 28 May: Sorry Day Bridge Walk in Batemans Bay led by Eurobodalla Boys to Men Group
Queanbeyan (Ngunnawal / Ngambri Nations)
