COORDINARE Annual Review 2023/24
12 November 2024
We are very proud to share our Annual Review which highlights progress against our new Strategic Directions for 2024-2027 - ‘Fostering healthier communities’.
Over the past year our team has worked proactively with the community, general practices and other stakeholders to design solutions that make it easier for people to get the health care they need.
We've overseen, on behalf of both the Australian and New South Wales governments, the roll out of urgent care options in our region. These options have helped ease the pressure on emergency departments when there is an urgent, but non life-threatening need for care.
We continued to support general practice to embed quality improvement processes, to prepare and register for MyMedicare, and to care for the most vulnerable in the community. We also funded one of Australia’s first Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinics at Milton Medical Centre.
To improve the reach and impact of mental health services in South Eastern NSW, over the last year we’ve commissioned seven new mental health services – two Medicare Mental Health Centres and five Mental Health Hubs. In addition, we’ve commissioned two youth headspace services in Shellharbour and Kiama.
We proudly fund the backbone team of two suicide prevention collaboratives in the Bega Valley Eurobodalla as well as the Illawarra Shoalhaven, who are working together to lower suicide rates within the region. We also have growing roles in aged care and allied health, as well as supporting the uptake of digital health systems.
We interact with providers and stakeholders in health and community service systems who, in turn, collectively impact individuals, families and communities. Communities flourish when people can access health care and are activated to manage their own health, resulting in improved outcomes and a high-quality care experience.
We continue to work to close the gap for our Aboriginal communities, including cultural competency training for general practices and opportunities for our staff to participate in ‘on country’ experiences.
Our Annual Review features many more stories about us and the organisations we work with, some of these have also been nominated for or won awards. These accomplishments would not be possible without our passionate Executive and staff, who we thank for their dedication and hard work.
We also express gratitude to our wonderful Board, Clinical and Consumer Councils and stakeholders for their guidance and inspiration to make a difference for our community.
