Free Chronic Pain community workshop in Cooma in October

1 October 2024

Community members in the Cooma region have an opportunity to understand chronic pain better and to gain helpful management support at a free community workshop in October.

"Chronic pain is a significant chronic health issue within South Eastern NSW, with prevalence in the region higher than the state and national average and numbers anticipated to rise over the next 30 years," said Prue Buist, CEO of COORDINARE - South Eastern NSW PHN.

In response to this need, COORDINARE funds a number of activities to support people living with chronic pain, including this upcoming community event in Cooma.

"St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney (SVHS) Chronic Pain Service, in collaboration with COORDINARE and Southern NSW Local Health District, provides three annual SVHS Pain Team outreach visits in Southern NSW providing education and support for health professionals and the wider community. This October it is Cooma's turn.

“Anyone living with chronic pain, their family, carers, friends as well as the wider community are invited to attend the Cooma community event,” Ms Buist said.

The 90-minute workshop will be facilitated by St Vincent's Chronic Pain Service in Cooma at 3pm on 24 October. For more information and to register visit https://bit.ly/3XBa3yh.
