New Goulburn Urgent Care Service meets community need
2 October 2024
Wendy Tuckerman MP, Member for Goulburn, visited Marima Medical Clinic today to tour Goulburn Urgent Care Service, which opened its doors in mid-August and is being delivered in partnership with COORDINARE - South Eastern NSW PHN.
Goulburn Urgent Care Service is open 365 days a year, from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 7pm Saturday and Sunday.
Wendy Tuckerman MP, Member for Goulburn said, “This new service is improving access to care, reducing wait times and taking pressure off our local hospitals.”
“Goulburn Urgent Care Service is providing the community with access to timely care for conditions which can be safely and effectively treated outside of the ED,” she said.
Prudence Buist, Chief Executive Officer of COORDINARE said: "Goulburn Urgent Care Service is now one of five facilities offering urgent care in South Eastern NSW, helping ease the pressure on general practices and emergency departments in the regions that they are located.
“Patients can call Healthdirect on 1800 022 222 to access the Goulburn service, for a health issue which should not be left untreated. This includes injuries and illnesses such as wounds, minor burns, and cuts requiring stitches, non-venomous bites, fractures and dislocations.
“The urgent care service is staffed by General Practitioners and nurses with important diagnostic services close by, including radiology and pathology.”
Ms Buist added, “This service does not replace your regular GP who should be your first point of contact for non-emergency, routine, and preventative health care. This initiative is about improving patient experience and ensuring the best appropriate use of health resources."
