Disaster Preparedness in General Practice

• Complete 'Activity 6.1 - Prepare', in the General Practice Disaster Management Toolkit (pages 8-11); and
• Using your findings/answers from 'Activity 6.1', complete this worksheet.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure you save your worksheet as you will need to email it to the Project Coordinator, Disaster Preparedness and Response, as evidence for your CPD hours to be credited and/or a certificate to be provided.

• Read 'Part A' of Managing emergencies in general practice; and
• Watch this RACGP YouTube video: The role of general practice in disaster response; and
• Log in to HealthPathways for your region (ACT and Southern NSW) or (Illawarra Shoalhaven); and
• Use the search function to navigate to the ‘Disaster Planning and Management’ pathways; and
• Read the ‘Preparing a General Practice for a Disaster’ pathway; and
• Read the ‘Preparing a Patient for a Disaster’ pathway.

• Review your findings/answers from the activity you completed in Step 2 and the learnings you gained from Step 3; and
• Select one area of improvement that your practice could undertake; and
• Prepare an Improvement Plan using this template.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure you save your Improvement Plan as you will need to email it to the Project Coordinator, Disaster Preparedness and Response, as evidence for your CPD hours to be credited and/or a certificate to be provided.

NOTE: Within one week of your satisfactorily completed documents being received, GPs will be credited with 3.0 MO hours, and certificates will be provided.
