General practice and primary health care: request for support in an emergency/disaster situation

Whilst the primary responsibility for responding to disasters or pandemic lies with government agencies, which act as the first responders within their respective jurisdictions, the PHN's role, extending across all phases of a crisis (before, during, and after) is to support essential services and ensure equitable access to health care.

We work closely with the Local Health Districts (LHDs) and emergency response agencies to ensure that any resources we can source are provided in a coordinated way.
