The Mental Health Line operates 24 hours a day and offers professional help, advice, and local referrals if you or someone you know is experiencing psychological distress.

It is staffed by mental health professionals who will ask questions to determine if you or, the person you are concerned about, needs ongoing mental health care and how urgently it is needed.

They can put you in contact with the most relevant mental health service for children, teens, adults and older people.

Adults and children impacted by the Bondi incident of December 2025 and living in South Eastern NSW now have access to free psychological support.

COORDINARE - South Eastern NSW Primary Health Network commissions health services on behalf of the Australian Government. Under the mental health support package announced by the federal government on 19 December 2025, funding was provided to Primary Health Networks in the Sydney region and broader areas with significant Jewish communities, to provide additional psychological therapies for those impacted by the Bondi incident.

Following community consultation and a procurement process, five mental health providers were commissioned in May 2026. The support is available in all South Eastern NSW (Illawarra Shoalhaven and Southern NSW regions).

This psychological support is available at no cost and people can self-refer. It does not require a Medicare card or a GP referral.

The NSW Government has developed a service directory with information and access to mental health and wellbeing supports for people affected by the Bondi Beach attack.

MyRecovery provides free, recovery-focused support for people aged 12 and over living with ongoing or complex mental health challenges across South Eastern NSW.

Delivered by a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, mental health nurses and peer workers, the program helps people build on their strengths, improve their mental and physical wellbeing, develop practical life skills, and connect with community and support services.

Support is tailored to individual goals and can also involve family and carers where appropriate.

Nana Muru is a free drug and alcohol withdrawal management and rehabilitation service open to any person aged over 18 years, with drug or alcohol concerns. Nana Muru is a culturally appropriate and evidence-based service in Nowra, with mobile outreach to surrounding communities. Be guided by a Registered Nurse, who will support your detoxification in consultation with your GP. Provided by Advance Care Planning Australia the National Advance Care Planning Advisory Service provides free advice and assistance with advance care planning for everyone from consumers to workforce.

Contact the National Advance Care Planning Advisory Service from 8 am to 4 pm (AEST) Monday to Friday on 1300 208 582.

From 30 June 2026, Beyond Blue's NewAccess program will be closing, following the introduction of the Medicare Mental Health Check-in program. Beyond Blue has made the decision to cease NewAccess nationally to reduce duplication across low-intensity mental health services.

Next Steps is a free, voluntary, peer-led aftercare program that supports people who have experienced a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis.

The program is available to people aged 16 years and over. Young people aged 14–15 years may also be eligible with informed consent and appropriate support arrangements in place.

Delivered by peer workers with lived experience, Next Steps provides compassionate, practical support to help people stay safe, navigate immediate challenges, strengthen their wellbeing, and work towards the life they want to build.
