Dr Janet Watterson grew up in Melbourne, but always enjoyed country life. She trained at Monash University graduating Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1987 with honors. Dr Watterson did post graduate training at Monash Medical Centre (Clayton), Alice Springs Hospital (pediatrics and obstetrics) and Tamworth Hospital (anesthetics).
Dr Watterson has a visiting medical officer appointment at Pambula Hospital, and works regularly in the Emergency Department at South East Regional Hospital. She has an advanced rural practice diploma in anesthetics. Her other qualifications include Masters of Family Medicine, Diploma Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Obstetrics, Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice.
Dr Watterson served as Chairperson of the local Division of General Practice (formerly Southern NSW Medicare Local) for three years. She enjoys working on HealthPathways as it makes life easier for GPs and improves patient access to coordinated care.
