headspace Kiama opens its doors

19 August 2024

headspace Kiama located in Manning Street has opened its doors, giving young people aged 12 to 25 access to youth friendly, free and confidential mental health and wellbeing services in their local area.

The service has been commissioned by COORDINARE – South Eastern NSW PHN with funding from the Australian Government’s national headspace program, and is operated by Grand Pacific Health.

Prudence Buist, CEO of COORDINARE said: “We are delighted that more young people can now access early intervention, mental health, alcohol and other drugs, and work and study support through headspace Kiama, three days per week,” said Ms Buist.

“We thank Kiama High School for the opportunity to offer services onsite at Kiama High School for students while the service was being established. This arrangement will continue for the rest of the term,” said Ms Buist.

The service will be officially opened in October by The Hon. Emma McBride MP (Federal Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention), The Hon. Fiona Phillips MP (Member for Gilmore) along with the young people who have been involved in the establishment of the centre.

In the meantime, young people, families and referrers can contact headspace Kiama on 4225 5640 or by dropping in at 11/65 Manning Street, Kiama, three days per week: Mondays 8.30am - 5pm, Tuesdays 9am – 6pm and Thursdays 8.30am - 5pm.
