MyRecovery - Mental health support
1 January 2025
MyRecovery is a mental health service for people aged 12 and over who are living with ongoing or complex mental health challenges who would benefit from extra support on their recovery journey.
MyRecovery is available across Bega, Moruya, Goulburn, Shellharbour, Queanbeyan, Shoalhaven and Wollongong, with staff visiting Cooma, Eden, Yass, Bombala, Batemans Bay, Ulladulla and other areas.
Telehealth is also available across South Eastern NSW.
Building on the experience of the Integrated Recovery Services (IRS) and the Rural Outreach Mental Health Service (ROMHS), MyRecovery combines the best features of both programs into one coordinated, region-wide service.
MyRecovery focuses on making care more connected, accessible, and responsive to the individual needs of each person and their community.
MyRecovery is a free service, and provides a range of supports designed to work together, including:
-
Clinical coordination services: Mental health nurses and other health professionals help coordinate care and ensure that all parts of a person’s support network are working together effectively.
-
Psychological therapies: Psychological support to complement care provided by GPs, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals. This can be delivered one-on-one or in groups, using evidence-based
approaches like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and others.
-
Peer support and education: Peer workers, people with lived experience of mental health recovery, provide support, advocacy, and mental health education individually or in groups. They help people feel understood, supported and may share their own learnings and tips from their own recovery journey.
-
Physical health support: Mental health nurses offer individual and group sessions, including physical and mental health clinics. These include routine health checks, medication reviews, health education, and
lifestyle support such as smoking cessation or nutrition.
-
Psychiatry support: Access to psychiatry is available through bulk-billed or telepsychiatry services.
- Care transitions and integration: Helps people move smoothly between hospital and community care.
MyRecovery works with anyone in the community aged 12+, and has partnerships in place to ensure tailored and responsive support to the following groups of people:
-
Young People (12–25 years).
-
Older People (65+)
-
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities
